(4) Into the Hardcore Soul of Southern Gospel

Dear Zefidians,

Recently I had the wonderful opportunity of catching up with Southern Gospel.

Of course, I won’t be talking about the spiritual Gospel genre here…

I am talking about Hardcore Detroit Metal - the genre that the band, Southern Gospel, embodies with fresh uniqueness and rugged Soul.

The band is composed of Andy Wells and Eric Brumbaugh, the well-respected and extremely talented artists from Metro Detroit who caught my attention when they released their music video, “Heathen.”

They made an even bigger splash recently when they gifted the world with “Built Different,” their newest album.

The album packs more than a punch with extraordinary hits such as, “HEATHEN,” “BUILT DIFFERENT,” and “PLAGUES” (just to name a few), yet there’s also a much subtler wealth of brilliance shining within the other jams; for instance, “Boy with a Hand Me Down Name” and “STARSEED” really come to mind on this.

From the colorful high-paced riffs to the cleverly introspective lyrics, Southern Gospel will raise your spirit to a higher dimension - guaranteed.
